If you’re looking for a facial treatment that yields amazing results, consider a vampire facial. Continue reading to learn more and to see if a vampire facial is right for you.
What Is a Vampire Facial?
A vampire facial, also known as a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facial, utilizes the platelets in your own blood to help stimulate the growth of collagen in your face. Collagen plays a major role in the health of your skin. As collagen increases, the elasticity and moisture of your skin improves. Unlike many treatments, the results of a vampire facial improve over time which makes it a great investment in the look and health of your skin.
What Conditions Does It Treat?
As the PRP stimulates your skin to create more collagen, many common skin conditions will begin to improve. Some of the most common conditions treated with vampire facials include:
- Decrease acne scars
- Improve fine lines
- Improve wrinkles
- Enhance skin texture and tone
- Improve loss of volume at face
What Does the Process Look Like?
First, a sample of blood is drawn from the patient. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge which separates out the plasma. Plasma offers high concentrations of platelets and growth factors which is what stimulates the growth of collagen. The PRP is then applied to the face either topically or reinjected under the skin barrier with an FDA approved Microneedling Skinpen Precision™ device. Your skin may appear red and tender for two to three days after treatment, but you will be well on your way to the results you desire within a week.
Is the Procedure Painful?
While there is some mild discomfort, a topical anesthesia is first applied to the face to keep you as comfortable as possible. While this is usually the only pain management needed by most patients, we can use PRO-NOX Nitrous Oxide gas for patients who feel noticeable discomfort.
When Will I Notice Results?
Depending on the conditions you would like to treat, the rate and number of treatments required to see noticeable results will vary. For best results, we recommend 2 or 3 treatments spaced approximately 2 months apart but some patients may only require a single treatment.
For more stubborn skin conditions, a more rigorous treatment will be recommended. Acne scars, for example, require 6 to 8 treatments at 6-week intervals for best results. We can provide you with a personalized treatment plan during your complimentary consultation.
